I have no idea how to tell which shade I am or if it will blend in and match the rest of me.How do you choose which shade foundation best matches your skin?
The best place to check the shade of foundation is to test it on your chin (close to your cheek), unless you have darker skin on your chin then anywhere else on your face. Then blend in the shades and find the one that matches closest. If you wanna take the guess work out, go to a department store and have them find you a shade that works well for you (prescriptives does that pretty well, and if you wanna spend about $40 for a big bottle go to elizabeth arden, they can make a color to match your EXACT skin color). How do you choose which shade foundation best matches your skin?
the above answer is absolutely correct-sometimes it's not easy determining the proper shade, that's why it's good to got to a department store makeup counter and have one of the girls test it out-it's for free, even if you don't buy anything.
Finding foundation is hard! Lots of brands in drug stores have little clear cards with splotches of color that you are supposed to hold up to your inner wrist to see what matches, so that makes it MUCH easier. Some brands even sell little sample sizes of three similar shades so you can try at home, away from fluorescent lights. If you are really not sure, just buy a foundation that has this feature in the display. Putting a little on your chin is a good idea, but tough when you are in a drug store with no mirror around. The best advice I have is to always buy from a store that has an unconditional makeup return policy!
Try some of it on your jawline. It has to disappear on your jawline. Also, first, determine your undertone and then you can narrow down your shade selection.
try rubbing the testers (if there are any or just use the real thing if not) into your hands or your cheekbones
its good to test it out on your jawline, but you also want to make sure the color isnt too different from your neck color because if it is then there will be a visible line revealing that you have foundation on. i would suggest going on the MaryKay website and finding a consultant in your area. i could guarantee that theres atleast a dozen. i wear marykay and ill never use anything else. simply because you have a Personal Beauty Consultant, someone that comes to your house (or you can go to theres) and will find that perfect color foundation and also give you reccomendations or advice. plus, you could always ask them anything about the products and they'll know; unlike products you buy at a store or pharmacy.
Ask a mary kay consultant to do it!!
