Selecting a shade of foundation/tinted moisturizer?

I am buying a tinted moisturizer tomorrow at my local CVS.

1. Are you allowed to try on makeup at CVS?

2. Are there any tricks to selecting a color without trying it on first?

3. Do you recommend any brand/type of tinted moisturizer? I'm looking for something under $10.

Thanks in advance :]Selecting a shade of foundation/tinted moisturizer?

  • Foundation always being a different shade than your neck?

i've tried many foundations out there and they always seem fine in the stores but once i go outside they always are a different shade than my neck. is there any way to prevent this or correct it?Foundation always being a different shade than your neck?
that's why you need to let them put foundaiton on your face. take a good mirror with you and step outside in the sun and see if you like it. the reason that is happening to you is that the lightening in stores are not natural so it can be deceiving. make sure you also take a friend with you to tell you how it looks under the sun or in your house or wherever there is natural lighting!Foundation always being a different shade than your neck?
when you go to buy foundation, go somewhere like a department store where they have beauty counters and can help you. although i have found that they usually don't get the shade right for me, you can try on different shades and formulas and then pop outside to see how they look in the sun. also try blending more than one shade to customize it to your skin.

    good luck!
well, truthfully i used to put the foundation all over my face too however the way to solve this problem is less foundation. i put a dab on nose on forehead chin and under eyes then blend. my whole face does not get covered and it is a very light layer. on accent areas ya know. then you will have a more flwless look. use your bronzer to do the rest, that you lightly dust face and neck. then you can go in any light and look great
You need to try a different shade, or maybe a different brand. And PLEASE blend your makeup from your jawline down to your neck so it's not as noticeable if it is different.
i had the same problem. get a tinted moisturizer instead. does the same thing, but its better for your skin and it blends easier.
that means you have the wrong shade.

Clinque which foundation which shade? I have dry/blemished skin want good coverage which shade i have blue?

Even better :) won't be able to tell you what shade, go there %26amp; check it out.

Even Better gives good coverage for blemished skin %26amp; with added minerals which is supposed to help even tone out over the long run :)Clinque which foundation which shade? I have dry/blemished skin want good coverage which shade i have blue?
I would not use clinique. I have used Clinique in the past, I thought it was good at the time but never realized it was the cause of breakouts due to the chemical ingredients they use. Mainstream brands use a very large amount of chemicals in their skincare and cosmetics that break you out and you may not even know it. It is called ';chemical induced acne';. There is no reason you should have dry skin and blemishes. If you have both your skin is not in harmony right now. You are using to harsh of a cleanser system or it can be due to the propelyne glycol or other petrol ingredients in your foundation. I am telling you this because I have been through all the tesing and studies myself, being in the field. You want a product that wil cover and will not break you out. I use Faerie Organic Mineral foundation on all my clientele as it is good for your skin, can actually help clear up acne (due to a mineral they use called boron nitried which is antibacterial and zinc oxide which is anti-inflammatory). This is the best thing you can use on your skin. It covers very well, and leaves a healthy glow. They have free sample kits and I recommend them to everybody, because they really work. You can get free samples here...http://www.faerieorganic.com They have great customer service, I would also ask for samples of cleanser and moisturizer in your case as I think they would really help your skin to not be blemished and dry. Good luck!
If you are prepared to spend on the right foundation? i would go to the estee lauder counter they will give you samples you can try at home if you ask that way you get to see the effect of the foundation on your face at home,

How many times do we end up with the wrong foundation all of us will have at least one bottle stashed that is no good to us.

I have never gone wrong with estee lauder, no mistakes with colour or coverage as i try them out at home, so even though they are about 拢20+ you get it right

If you don't like the samples on your skin at home make a note of the foundation and colour and go back and get some more to try
Clinique's ok, but need a photo of your skin %26amp; that'd still be hard to match on the internet. You're generally paying big bucks just for the name. Try a great one that's been around for a while %26amp; is tryable before you buy %26amp; is guaranteed, like Mary Kay..
Sheer Cover is the best makeup.

their concealer is amazing and the foundation looks natural.

it's way better for your skin that clinique

it has green tea and spf 15, and it comes with a moisturizer for your skin.
almost make up tinted mouisterizer, find the right shades in the shops, the people on the till will help you. x
go get matched at a counter!!

Personally...have someone match your skin tone.

The makeup artists at the counters are good at this.

Everyone needs two different foundations b/c our skin is lighter in the winter b/c we don't get as much sun.

I just use bare minerals so I'm not clogging up my pores and I can put on a powder that gives an airbrush effect (mineral veil). The powder doesn't look like I have any makeup on, like a canvas.

Your skin loves to breathe! Can someone please tell me what shade foundation i need?
i would suggest u have someone at the store match u even if we could see ur pic, it would be very hard to tell since monitors are different.

How do i choose the right shade of foundation?

im buyin foundation for the first time.

[i never needed it until now]

im gonna buy it myself. im not fortunate enough to go to an expensive place and have it matched to my skin color. ..

i have to stick with a drug store for now.

so when i pick it out, what part of my face/body do i match it to?

should it be darker or lighter than my skin shade?

btw, thanks ahead for the answers =]How do i choose the right shade of foundation?
dont test it on your hands, instead pick three shades thats closest to your skin tone and whichever one blends into your skin(disappears) then thats your shade.

hope this helpsHow do i choose the right shade of foundation?
You wanna know the best foundation? it is actuall the first foundation ever! The best cover up and so easy to apply and is so cheap like $7 ($10 the most)...and its water proof...so long lasting... best with photo shoots and hids any scars or acne you are trying to hids... Max Factor...I'm not joking if i was then how come i use it? I haven't heard anything bad about Max Factor but every make up artist I worked with loves it! So if i was you give it a shot maybe you'll like it!

    Max Factor is the name....
Try puritycosmetics,co,uk. It is really good!
match it to the back of the wrist wear the vains are and if it matches that then there you go.. or you could go to sallys and ask what color..

im sorry i have no idea i dont use makeup (not allowed) :[[

if you're going to the mall to get it, ask the salespeople. if you plan to get it online or something, like, http://uma.chanel.com/-makeup-face-foundation-pro-lumiere-professional-finish-makeup-spf-15-/product/MAFMU54Y, dont get shell or soft bisque. too rosy for olive skin.

im sorry i cant really help. :(What shade of chanel pro lumiere foundation do i need?!?
Ohh i have that foundation is fantastic, absolutely love it and looks so natural. i would say the beige or natural, if you have more of a orange look then beige.

Seriously, can't find right shade of foundation?

I've been back to the Clinique counter at least 3, 4 times in the past 3 months - all because I'd find that my shade is way too dark or too light... It always looks fine when I look at it in the store (usually by the door where the sunlight is).

Is there any hope? Do these Clinique workers have any idea what they're doing?Seriously, can't find right shade of foundation?
Try a different brand and don't be afraid to mix colors.Seriously, can't find right shade of foundation?
To be honest... just because someone works in cosmetics, doesn't neccessarily mean they can apply or give best makeup advice.

Try other places... or do what I did.

Experiment with different stuff until YOU know what works for you. My ethnicity is ';Black';, and it's not easy finding my color(s). My skin tone is not dark, but the light shades are TOO light. You may find yourself using two shades of foundation. Especially if you have uneven skin tone.

    TRUST ME... THERE'S HOPE!

    BUT...

Nope! Those Clinique workers don't have any idea...

or maybe they're not too experienced to work will ALL colors!
yeah clinique arent great at matching colours, the lady who advised me got it three shades wrong. dont look at it in the store. u must go outside to have a proper look. im too pale for even their lightest in the superbalaned foundation range, the alabaster, but their color ranges are better than some. see if you can get them to give you a little tester pot then go home and try it in front of the mirror where you usually apply your make up. best of luck...
well if you ask them they should help you find the right one but if that doesn't work:

Get a few different ones and put a streak of it on your cheek and let it dry a little because they can get lighter or darker when they dry. Then when you find one that fits just make sure you're blending it in completely
idk find a medium shade one that is not too dark or not too light u know a medium shade maybe the perfect thing
