The way I had it done was I simply went to the closest department store I could find. They have makeup counters there where the testers are locked away, and the consultants use a different sponge for each person. They don't end up with all the bacteria and other whatnots, and it's completely free. One woman was able to just look at me and find my shade. They'll give you a sample as well, so you can try it out to see if you have any reactions before buying. That's free as well.





If you have an olive or ethnic tone, a personal match is best. What I found to be the case was that I would be a ';cooler'; tone in one foundation and a ';warmer'; one in another brand.How to determine your foundation shade?
you can get free samples from Mary Kay...and test it on your jawline or right above and if it disappears then you know you have the right shade.
talk to someone at the make up counter at good store...ask them what they think.


put on say 3 different coulours on your face down your jaw and neck....wait till it dies then go outside in the natural light and see which on disapears into your skin. When you apply make up to your face people usuayly compare the colour to the colour on your chest....so it should be about that colour.


The counter help wont think your crazy they do it all the time.


Natural light is the best light because it doesnt lie and you can get the most natural fit.
I recommend going to a department store makeup counter and having one of the workers help you out. Not only will they help you determine the right color, but also the right type for your skin. I personally recommend Clinique. It always looks great and it's not as expensive as the other brans **and the foundation is well worth the price (around 25 dollars) because it lasts for a long time**
Trial and error. Or, maybe go on eBay and order some samples. You can get trial sizes there.
Try Bare Essentials. You would love it. Its powder foundation and its good for you. There are different shades but the websites goes into great detail on what shade you are.
Not sure. If you're worried about bacteria, just make sure to wash your hands/face/wherever after using it. Don't test makeup on your hand/wrist, though. Test it on your neck. The skin on your hand varies too much from your face.
Try testing a small amount on your wrist. Sometimes that can help you determine your shade without ruining your face.
